Meet Your Instructor

Jhuamia Pile—best known as Mia—is a native of Nashville, TN. She has been happily married for over 14 years to Victor Pile, Jr., and together they have two beautiful children. Mia is a graduate of Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English.

As a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and former Life Alignment Depression Program Facilitator for the Wildwood Lifestyle Center, Mia brings a world of experience into all of her presentations and trainings. After spending 15 years in ministry as a missionary, lifestyle coach, and teacher/principal, life tragedies hit so hard that she thought she lost her faith.

As a survivor of abuse, Mia candidly makes herself vulnerable by sharing her own personal experiences with depression, suicidal thoughts, fears about God, and the tools she used to overcome them. She is on a mission to combat the stigmas surrounding mental health, especially in the church, and to equip everyday people to be prepared to help in the event of a mental health crisis encounter.

What You'll Learn In This Course

Your Story, Your Breakthrough

When we have suffered trauma or a crisis, it's easy for us to define ourselves negatively by that story, making it difficult to emerge from that place of pain. You'll learn how to not only acknowledge your pain, but also ensure that it is not wasted and that it fuels a breakthrough that can eventually help someone else in their struggles.

Identifying Signs & Symptoms Of Crisis

Whether it's you struggling with your mental health or someone close to you, these modules will provide invaluable information on:

  • Defining mental well-being
  • Destigmatizing mental illness
  • Exploring key considerations for struggling adolecents
  • Differentiating between a sign and a symptom
  • Examining our limitations as helpers

How To Find And Give Help

Knowing who can help in a sudden or ongoing mental crisis can be the difference between life and death. In these modules, you'll discover:

  • The individuals that can help on the journey to mental well-being
  • What to expect from different mental health professionals
  • Three resources to save to your phone IMMEDIATELY
  • What to do if a person does not want help or doesn't have insurance
  • BONUS for Human Resources & Office Managers

A Biblical Case Study

As much as we laud heroes in the Bible, we can learn so much from their flaws, struggles, and breakthroughs that came from trauma. In this module, we'll examine a specific Bible narrative and learn:

  • Signs and symptoms they experienced
  • How God responded in this individual's distress
  • How a culture has emerged among leaders making it hard for them to receive the help they need

Improving Self-Care

Self-care forms the backbone of your mental well-being. In these modules, you'll discover:

  • How to identify YOUR top three self-care needs
  • Two cognitive behavior therapy tools that help improve relationships
  • How to do a Brain Detox
  • Four common stress-inducing patterns and how to combat them

Turning Bad Grief Into "Good" Grief

Grief comes in many shapes and sizes, and for far too many individuals, it keeps us stuck in a mental quagmire with little hope of emerging. In these modules, you'll learn:

  • The six stages of grief as a framework, not a prescription
  • The helpful and unhelpful things people say to grievers
  • What Biblical grievers teach us about expressing our heart
  • Considerations when a person dies by suicide
  • Tips for grieving well
